My Favorite Kind of Sign to See

I think this is my favorite kind of sign to see.

Especially if the sign happens to sit on a narrow two lane road directly in front of a bridge.

Especially if the bridge happens to cross over a creek.

Especially if the creek happens to hold willing smallmouth bass.

On the weekends this road sees little traffic.

I go here for the numbing silence.

With the road closed, it’s even quieter.

If it weren’t for the birds, I would have swore I had gone deaf.

  1. I’ve lived on that cul de sac for the last 2 years and it’s been great to walk my dog on the road without being passed by a crotch rocket going 80. I’ll have to get used to it again in a few weeks. It was so great to get the feel back for catching smallies on the creek. Dick V, Bristol Twp

    1. I had a feeling some of the landowners down that way really didn’t mind if the bridge stayed out Dick. They’re just about done with it though and I get to listen to the crotch rockets and drag racers from the other side of the river.

      Creeks are addictive aren’t they.

  2. My nephew took me to a lake not far from where we live a few weeks ago and I caught my first smallmouth. Actually we caught them all day; the lake is full of them. Most of our lakes here are warm, so most of our bass are largemouths. But this one is up in the hills and spring-fed, so it’s colder. In fact, it has almost nothing but smallmouths and trout. Fun day; they were hitting anything we could throw.

    1. Smallmouth are addictive Robin. They just fight so much harder than their big mouth brothers.

  3. That’s the best! Close all the damn roads!

    1. I’ll settle for closing the ones around the creeks I like to fish Steve. I could probably fit a few of those signs in my car. Stage my own closings.

I’m sorry, you can’t come through here. I’m fishing.
